**RAT HOLLOW — PRODUCTION UPDATE**

Ash Grove is alive.

We’ve been deep in early development, focusing on the tone, structure, and visual identity of *Rat Hollow*. This phase has been about making sure the world feels real before anything breaks.

---

🌄 **ACT I — ASH GROVE (In Progress)**
The opening sequence is being built out scene by scene.

* Dawn establishing shots finalized in tone and structure
* Daily life moments defined:

* The well
* Fence repair
* Herb work (Marta)
* Children and families
* Focus: making the settlement feel lived-in, human, and worth losing

This is critical — the audience needs to *feel Ash Grove* before it’s taken.

---

👁️ **THE RIDGE / THE WATCHER**
The presence above Ash Grove is being refined.

* Silhouette language defined
* Staging from the ridge locked in (distance, power, stillness)
* Tone shift from warm → uneasy now fully mapped

The dread is slow. Intentional.

---

🔥 **THE SLAUGHTER (Early Planning)**
We’re beginning to structure the transition into the attack.

* Pacing approach: silence before violence
* Visual contrast: warm firelight vs cold intrusion
* No chaos for the sake of chaos — every moment has weight

---

🐀 **RATFOLK DESIGN (In Development)**
Key visual direction is being explored:

* Grounded anatomy (not cartoon, not exaggerated)
* Weathered, frontier-worn look
* Distinction between Ash Grove settlers and Hollow Creek presence

---

🎬 **VISUAL STYLE LOCK (NEAR COMPLETE)**

* Painterly, western-gothic tone
* Consistent lighting language (dawn, dust, shadow)
* Emphasis on stillness, not spectacle

---

⚙️ **WHAT’S NEXT**

* Character concept passes (Marta, families, riders)
* First full cinematic scene block (Ash Grove → Ridge reveal)
* Priest + Rider visual direction
* Transition into full scene sequencing

---

This project isn’t about speed.

It’s about making Ash Grove feel like a place you remember…
so when it’s gone, it stays gone.

More soon.
